Curriculum Area

 

The students’ syllabus is aimed at providing a stimulating environment where the student’s skills will be developed. Underpinning the everyday activities will be the opportunity for the children to learn and apply the good principles of love, sharing, caring, obedience and forgiveness. Students must attend full time. Each student will have a fully qualified staff with responsibility for overseeing the everyday educational development and care of the students.Full and comprehensive junior and secondary subjects will be taught which closely follows the targeted national syllabus for WAEC and NECO curriculum but also meet International standards. Student will be taught French as well.A maximum class size of 30 students so that the students benefit from the level of individual attention available with the teacher. Consistent efforts will be made to attain international standard for students to teacher ratio. Educational visits such as field studies are integral to the school curriculum.Bethel Livingstone Academy offers a wide variety of academic subjects taught by a dedicated and professional staff. The curriculum begins with a broad spectrum of subjects and becomes more focused from junior to secondary classes. The Senior School

Senior Secondary Students follow a balanced programme of core studies. The students will focus in one of three streams of study; Science, Business or Arts. All students study English, Mathematics, Biology, Religion, a Nigerian Language, Economics and ICT to examination level.Science Stream students will study all three sciences, along with Further Mathematics. Business Stream students will study Accounts, Commerce and Government. Arts Stream students will study Fine Art, Food and Nutrition and Government Additional optional subjects are available including: Geography, Literature, Technical Drawing, Agricultural Science and French. Students will take both WAEC and NECO examinations at the end of SS3.

Extra Curricular

The school aims to help every individual student to develop his or her abilities, talents and personality to the fullest possible extent. As a step in this direction, the school enjoins all students to take part actively in its extracurricular programme. A student is expected to have membership in at least one and at most two club groups. Club members meet every other Saturday for about 2 hours.As much as possible, students will be given an opportunity to choose their own clubs. Selection of clubs will begin with a club fair, during which students speak to different club patrons or matrons and try to make up their minds. They are then made to complete a selection pro forma on which they indicate their preferences. The clubs include:

No religious society will be allowed in the school. All students are automatic members of Fellowship for Christian Students (FCS).
